Grandma's lesson learned from her Grandaughter

My Grandaughter Hailey (13 years old, a teenager... sigh) came to craft with me over Holiday break.  I won a Cricut Expression from "My Craft Channel this last fall and she has never seen it before and yet she had NO fear of it... in fact, I have only used it a couple of times working with a DVD, a wonderfully kind blogger friend sent me, to help me learn how to use it!  It seemed quite complicated... I guess all I needed was Hailey!  She had out all my Cartridges and within minutes said okay this is the one I want to do... and she didn't stop for a couple of hours and many, many projects later!

Hailey working on the Cricut Expression

The very first thing she did was an Owl card and envelope
from the Wild Card Cartridge

Next she did a Chinese Carton from the Sweet Tooth Boxes Cartridge
using the Forever Young and Slumber Party Cartridges for some of the images

Her next box was also from the Sweet Tooth Boxes Cartridge
which she decorated with some Prima Flowers

She had so much fun just making some images to use on future layouts
and her boards using various Cartridges

Her last card is an adorable "Bandaid" card for her Sister's Boyfriend, having surgery
also using the Wild Card Cartridge... I love this one!

Hailey had to go back to school and the time went way to fast!  I guess she'll have to come back and show me how to use my new BigKick, and my new set of Sew Easy Stitch piercers and any one of my new Martha Stewart punches, not to mention my new set of Copic Markers... let's see her next time off of school isn't until Spring Break, I better call now and get on her schedule before it fills up!!

Tomorrow I am heading to my Sister's house for the weekend and our Cousin is coming on Saturday for a long awaited craft day.  We are cooking ahead of time and crock potting it all, can't waste any time cooking!  I have been packing for 2 days now and have about 5 boxes to go... I probably only left about 2 boxes worth in my craftroom, so that tells you how much is going!  My Cousin has never worked on a Cricut either,
I hope I can reach Hailey on the phone...

That's the thing with kids, isn't it? They have no fear whatsoever - i can read an instruction book front to back and still struggle and the kids come along and just seem to get it straight away lol!Have a fab crafty with your family!

Wow Pendra. She gets her craftiness from you. She did a great job! I am a little afraid of my Sew Easy and my Expression, too. (And I am 30something)Glad to see a post from you, I was wondering how you were.

It's so funny that kids seem to have no fear of technology! My kids were the same way with comupters when they were younger. I was joking with a friend that I needed to get her 5 year old son over to help us with a video game and system we got for Christmas. We're stuck in one spot. Although I was joking when I mentioned it, she said, "oh he would be happy to help you...he's already beat that game several times!" Wow...he's only 5!

Hailey's creations are so cute. I think you have a little artist on your hands!

There is something to be said about todays modern technology and kids knowing how it all works. My mum got my 11 year old brother to set up their new tv! Looks like she had a great time and her projects are fantastic. Lee x

Oh to have the wonderful naiveté of the young, no fear like us slightly older females. You are so lucky to have someone who can use all of your "tools" and teach you to use them. I need a young person to show me how to use Facebook - am I really getting old?
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi Pendra! Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog. Pendra I bought my bling mesh from my friend Fiona from Youtube (Jennings644). She has an Etsy store of the same name but sadly at this moment her bling is out of stock. But if you want to find it a little closer to home, try KarlaS001 on Etsy. She sells it also. Hope this helps. I hope you are well my friend. Ive missed you in Blogland. Lee xx
